Mission and History
Miriam: The Learning Disability Experts, is proud of a legacy of service to the St. Louis community that spans more than 100 years. Miriam School started 62 years ago serving elementary students K-5, and has since grown to include a middle school 6-8th. Miriam Academy extends this proven educational model to serve area high school students. Miriam Learning Center opened in 2007 to provide specialized services to students with learning disabilities in other school districts and to offer a robust after school program. Together, Miriam School, Miriam Academy and Miriam Learning Center serve more than 1,000 students each year.
Miriam is committed to developing personalized learning, building supportive communities and fostering a life-long love of learning among students with a variety of learning challenges.
Mission (Approved by the Board Feb 2018): Miriam Academy educates high school students with learning disabilities through customized instruction centered on students’ strengths, empowering them to be successful adults.
