Miriam Academy grants a standard 24-credit high school diploma for all students who earn the minimum number of credits. Miriam Academy does not award “Certificates of Completion.”
Students will be eligible for graduation when 24 credits have been earned. Earned credits will be based on personalized learning goals and progress on curriculum-based assessments tailored to students’ strengths. Miriam Academy bases its credit guidelines around what most Missouri colleges/universities require for acceptance. Credits are broken down as follows:
English Language Arts – 4 credits
Social Science/Studies – 3 credits
Math – 4 credits
Science – 3 credits
Fine Arts – 1 credit
Practical Arts – 1 credit
Health/PE – ½ credit in health and ½ credit in PE
Personal Finance – ½ credit
Miriam Academy also has its own required courses, listed below.
Practical Arts – 4 credits (1 credit per year to be counted as social studies, practical arts, or elective credit)
Learning Strategies – enrollment and credits earned are based on student needs (counted as a credit within appropriate core class of English Language Arts, Math or Social Studies)
Electives – minimum of 3 credits in areas of student interest (offerings determined annually based on student interest)
Credits will generally be recorded by academic semester (½ credit per semester), but students will be able to expand time to complete a credit as needed. Conversely, some students may also choose to complete credits sooner than the end of the semester.
